YOUR DUE SEASON IS CONDITIONAL

June 12, 2021

Most of us want our due season to manifest in our lives without understanding the implications of due seasons. Many of us recite the scripture found in Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” believing if we endure, the due season will eventually come to us. What we fail to understand is the “well-doing” in which we must participate. So, to increase your understanding of due season in this blog, I will exegesis the following two scripture passages.

Leviticus 26:3-5 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

Deuteronomy11:10-15 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs: But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven: A land which the Lord thy God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year. And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil. And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.

In both of these passages, God speaks to Israel and informs them what He expects from them and what He will do if they meet His expectations. He gives them the conditions that will open the door to productivity, but he lets them know first some requirements must be fulfilled.

In Leviticus 26, there are three conditions: walking in God’s statutes, keeping His commandments, and doing them. God did not allow Israel to make up their own statues and commandments. Instead, he spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai and gave him specific instructions to give to Israel. In the future, the leader was to rehearse these ordinances periodically with the people.

In both of these passages, the due season of rain was the first rain that happened in September and October when the farmers were planting their crop, and the latter rain in March and April to make the harvest bountiful. Furthermore, God told them He would cause the crop to last for several seasons; Israel would not experience food insecurities.

Additionally, in Deuteronomy11:10-15, God told Israel the promise land was different than Egypt. For three months, the fields in Egypt were underwater, and the farmers knew how to irrigate their properties. The promise land was depended on God’s benevolence. The promise land was made up of hills and valleys. In other words, Israel would experience highs and lows. And as previously stated in Leviticus 26:3-5, God’s intervention depended on Israel meeting certain conditions. Listening earnestly to God’s commandments, loving Him, and serving him with all of their heart and soul were the conditions given in Deuteronomy11:10-15.

Knowing God does not change His principles, I believe that just as He gave Israel conditions for their due season, those principles remain the same. Therefore, the reward of a due season will be contingent on our positive actions and not on disobedience.

For now, I hope this blog has given some answers and direction for those of you praying about your due season, but I must warn you there will be some unwanted experiences that company it. I will share that information in another blog. Until then, don’t get weary nor faint.
