THE SPIRIT OF DECEPTION

May 1, 2021

I had to do this particular blog this week because of what the world is presently experiencing. What is that, you might ask? My response would be, “The Spirit of Deception.” The Spirit of Deception has been around for a long time, for it originated with Lucifer, who we now call Satan. Before this earth was formed, he deceived himself with his five “I will,” which you can read in Isaiah 12:13-14. Consequently, God saw the iniquity in Satan’s heart because of his beauty, and God cast him to the ground (Ezekiel 28:14-17). Unfortunately, the Bible reveals Satan was able to deceive one-third of the angels who were also cast out of heaven (Revelation 12:3-4).

When the earth was created and Adam and Eve were placed in the perfect home, Satan came in and deceived Eve by making her question God’s instructions. Genesis 3:1-5 shares their encounter. It says, “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Eve chose to believe Satan, ate the fruit, and gave it to Adam, who also consumed it.

From Satan’s invasion into the perfect home to our homes, he continues with his deceptions. This Spirit of Deception is running rampant throughout the world in every area of our lives. Important matters and decisions that could unite us and be beneficial for our peaceful existence are rejected because of this spirit. This spirit has caused world wars, family feuds, national crises, death, and destruction. Many people wonder who they can believe and are questioning whether to believe those they previously trusted. Additionally, it appears the closer we get to the rapture of believers, people are deceived the more.

Furthermore, closely examine this Spirit of Deception. After experiencing a peaceful time on earth during the millennial reign of Jesus, Satan, the deceiver, is let loose from the bottomless pit. He deceives nations into aligning with him to wage war against the believers located in Jerusalem (Revelation 20:7- 8). On the one hand, I can’t even begin to fathom how Satan will be able to do this, but as I watch the deception going on in our world, I can see how easily people will be tricked into believing lies.

We genuinely need God; we need His divine intervention to guide us. So, in closing, please join me in this crucial prayer request to God, “Father, don’t allow the Spirit of Deception to fool us but allow the Spirit of Truth to rest, rule, and abide in our lives.”

I was just thinking about some of the issues you mentioned in this teaching. My prayer is also Father, protect me from the spirit of deception. In the name of Jesus
