FOR YOUR ULTIMATE SUCCESS, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS
Recently, I was talking to a fellow believer, and they shared some of the painful struggles that they were experiencing. As I spoke with them, the Holy Spirit, whom the Bible says will lead us and bring all things back to our remembrance, reminded me of the words of Jesus and our spiritual arsenal. As I encouraged this believer, I was also encouraged by the Word and Holy Spirit. So, for those who may be feeling defeated, after that conversation, I was inspired to share this blog on our position in warfare and the arsenal of equipment and strategies that God has given us.
According to Luke 9:1, while doing His earthly ministry, Jesus first called his twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all devils, as well as to cure diseases. Shortly thereafter, in Luke 10:19, He also told his seventy followers, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” This power and authority did not end with the disciples and seventy, but it is for all believers, for Jesus told the disciples before He departed this earth, in His name, believers would cast out devils (Mark 16:17).
Paul was also helpful in reminding believers who their enemy was. He said in Ephesians 6:12, ”For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.“ Therefore, when we are engaged in a spiritual battle, it is key to remember that our battle is not against a human being but rather a demonic entity.
Paul also informed us in 1 Corinthians 10:4 that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty, through God, to the pulling down of strongholds. Thus, we must have on our spiritual armor, which includes girding our loins with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, shodding our feet with the gospel of peace, carrying the shield of faith, wearing the helmet of salvation, and wielding the sword of the Spirit.
With all of the above in place, we can strategize using the following:
1. Prayer, which will tell you about the battle.
2. Worship, which puts God in charge of the battle.
3. Praise, which gets you through the battle.
4. The Word of God, which will uphold and strengthen you in the battle.
5. The blood of Jesus, which will protect you in the battle.
6. The name of Jesus, which will give power in the battle.
7. Binding and losing will shorten the battle.
8. Fasting will prepare you for the battle.
9. The infilling of the Holy Spirit will fortify you in the battle.
10. Praying in the Spirit will be your secret language for the battle.
Finally, I close by saying our ultimate success as believers comes from obediently following the instructions found in our spiritual manual, which is the undefeated Word of God.
